- Mark Arm
He's one of the most influential people, but little less well known, in the Grunge scene. Let's share a few facts about the singer, guitarist and musician Mark Arm: (Photo: Daigo Oliva) 1. He was born as Mark Thomas McLaughlin, at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on February 21, 1962. 2. In his youth his family moved to the city of Kirkland in the state of Washington, located in the eastern suburbs of Seattle. 3. As early as 1980 he formed his first band - "Mr. Epp and the Calculations". 4. In 1982, the band released an EP called "Mohawk Man" and was a local success, including warming up bands like "Ten Minute Warning" and "Dead Kennedys". 5. In 1983 the guitarist Steve Turner joined the band and the band released with him another material that was only released on tape. 6. After the band disbanded, in 1984, Mark and Steve formed the Green River band of which was also joined by bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard , who will later be members of the band's "Mother Love Bone" and "Pearl Jam". 7. "Green River" is known as one of the first and most influential bands in the grunge scene. (Photo: Charles Peterson) 8. Together with "Green River", Mark released from 1985 two EPs and one studio album which was released in 1988. 9. After the disbandment of "Green River", Gossard and Ament left for "Mother Love Bone" and Mark and Steve set out to form the band "Mudhoney". 10. "Mudhoney" released its first single - "Touch Me I'm Sick" in 1988 and immediately afterward the EP "Superfuzz Bigmuff". (Photo: Mudhoney Twitter Page) 11. "Mudhoney's" single and EP released in 1988 greatly influenced the Seattle music scene at the time and "Mudhoney" became the flagship of the " Sub Pop " label which would later become associated with Seattle and the grunge scene. 12. Mark was the owner of the warehouse of the record company "Sub Pop" which was the catalyst for music in Seattle. He packed CDs and records as a job. 13. "Sonic Youth" members who were very impressed with the single and the EP invited "Mudhoney" members to join them for a tour held by Sonic in England. 14. It is interesting to note that Matt Dillon's imaginary band Citizen Dick in the movie " Singles " has a song that corresponds with "Mudhoney's" first single and is called "Touch Me I'm Dick". 15. "Mudhoney" were also part of the soundtrack of the movie "Singles " to which it contributed the song "Overblown". 16. "Mudhoney" released its first studio album in 1989 and is among the only grunge bands that continue to release grunge albums to date, the last one came out in 2018. They are true to themselves and the music they have been devoutly making for over 30 years. 17. Mark and "Mudhoney" also continue to release their albums, to this day, under the same mythological label associated with the grunge genre - "Sub Pop". 18. Mark is among the first to use the term "Grunge" in reference to a musical scene. This happened back in 1981 when he wrote a letter to one of the local newspapers in which he described the music his first band made - "Mr. Epp and the Calculations" as "Pure Grunge !, Pure Noise !, Pure Garbage!". 19. Mark is featured on the song "Right Turn" from the EP. " SAP " of the band Alice in Chains. Chris Cornell is also a guest on the same song and the credit for the same one-time supergroup, was given to "Alice Mudgarden" which is a combination of the three bands: "Alice in Chains", "Soundgarden" and Mudhoney. 20. Alongside his membership in the band "Mudhoney" to this day, Mark Aram has a solo career and is active in several ensembles, including the supergroup "The Monkeywrench". 21. In 2004, Mark Aram replaced the mythical singer of the proto-punk band MC5, during the band's tour, after he passed away. 22. In 2009, Mark Aram and "Mudhoney" came to perform in Israel and shredded the "Barby" club with an attack of distortion. - Black Sabbath - The End Of "The End"
On February 4, 2017, "Black Sabbath" made its very last show at the "Genting Arena" in Birmingham , England, thus closing a circle that began almost fifty years earlier, in 1968, in exactly the same place. (Photo: The Rolling Stone Magazine) This was the last performance in the last tour, which began on January 20, 2016, and was crowned with the obligatory name "The End". During the tour, the band even released an EP also titled " The End ". Not for nothing did the band choose to end their last tour with two consecutive live shows in Birmingham. The band was formed almost 50 years earlier, at exactly the same place, when Ozzy Osbourne hung an ad in a record store that read, "Ozzy Zig Needs Gig — has own PA." This ad caught the attention of Tony Iommi and Bill Ward , whose band "Mythology" had just disbanded. Ozzy brought his friend "Rare Breed" - bassist Geezer Butler with him and so "Black Sabbath" was actually formed. It was a perfect and dignified closer. The band played 16 carefully selected songs, mostly from the band's masterpiece albums from the seventies " Paranoid ", " Black Sabbath ", " Master Of Reality ", " Vol. 4 " and even " Technical Ecstasy ". The song that opened the show was the first song from the first album named after the band - "Black Sabbath", while the last song was its biggest "hit" " Paranoid ". The latest show was broadcast live through the band's Facebook channel. After the show, Tony Iommi announced that the band would no longer be touring, but noted that he was open to recording another album. The setlist played on this historic evening: ‘Black Sabbath’ ‘Fairies Wear Boots’ ‘Under the Sun / Every Day Comes and Goes’ ‘After Forever’ ‘Into the Void’ ‘Snowblind’ ‘War Pigs’ ‘N.I.B.’ ‘Hand of Doom’ ‘Supernaut / Sabbath Bloody Sabbath / Megalomania’ (medley) ‘Rat Salad’ ‘Iron Man’ ‘Dirty Women’ ‘Children of the Grave’ ‘Paranoid’ "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog Follow us on Facebook / Instagram or Subscribe to our website
- Richey Edwards Disappearance
A Sneak Peek.... And this time about guitarist Richey Edwards and the most mysterious disappearance in the music world. (Photo: Krause, Johansen/Sony Music Archive) Missing! "Manic Street Preachers" is asking for the help of the music-loving public, in their search for a missing person named Richard James Edwards, who was last seen on February 1, 1995. Anyone who knows anything about his whereabouts is asked to contact James Dean Bradfield . So Richey Edwards was the guitarist of the "Manic Street Preachers". The music world foresaw a promising future. On 1 February 1995, at 07:00 in the morningת he left the hotel where he was staying in London, leaving his suitcase closed and packed behind. Sixteen days later, his car was found on Severn Bridge outside Bristol, England. Due to the proximity to the bridge, the hypothesis was that he had committed suicide. Despite feverish searches for him, Edwards was never found and in November 2008 was officially declared dead. Edwards disappeared on the very day he was scheduled to fly to the United States with James Dean Bradfield , to promote the band's third album "The Holy Bible", which was released in August 1994. A police investigation revealed that two weeks before his disappearance, Edwards made sure to withdraw £ 200 from the ATM machines, every day, and by the day of his disappearance he had already withdrawn a cumulative amount of £ 2,800 in cash. Examination of the vehicle revealed that Edwards lived in it for several days. There was evidence of a taxi driver, a fan of the band who allegedly saw him in the period between his disappearance and the day his vehicle was found. In 2019, a book written with the help of Richey's sister, called "Withdrawn Traces - Searching for the truth about Richey", was published. The book claims that Richey directed his death and that he actually lives in Israel, so you may well have come across him. So if you have seen, or heard anything, please report it. It is interesting to note that the excellent album "Everything Must Go" by "Manic Street Teachers", released over a year after the disappearance, includes songs written in collaboration with Edwards and also one track in which he participates. The band's ninth album - "Journal for Plague Lovers"- was released in 2009 and is also based entirely on songs whose lyrics were written by Edwards. Another interesting fact is that Edwards, born on December 22, 1967, disappeared when he was 27. If the suicide theory is correct, it means that he is part of the dubious "27 Club". - Michael Schenkers Group - Immortal
On January 29, 2021, "Immortal" by "Michael Schenker Group" was published. The gifted guitarist Michael Schenker returns to the "Michael Schenker Group" project and celebrates with this album 50 years of activity!!! For almost a decade Schenker has not used the specific brand of "Michael Schenker Group", when the eight albums he has released since 2011 were under the trade names "Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock" and "Michael Schenker Fest" in which all the vocalists of the MSG band over its generations participated. (Photo: All About the Rock) Schenker, who released the group's debut album in 1980, continues the tradition of the last two albums of the group "Michael Schenker Fest" with a huge amount of guest artists, numbering no less than 14 different artists, most of whom accompanied him during the years of his career, including: Joe Lynn Turner , Derek Sherinian, Simon Phillips, Doogie White, Robin McAuley, Gary Barden and more. The album, which includes 10 pieces, opens with " Drilled To Kill " - the fast and adrenaline-filled piece that was released as the first single from the album back in November 2020. Shankar collaborates here with Ralph Scheepers, the frontman of "Primal Fear". Don't miss this amazing segment and the guitar-keyboard battle between Schenker and Derek Sherinian near the end. The second track " Don't Die On Me Now " brings us together with one of our favorite singers - Joe Lynn Turner and with a classic "Schenker" song that includes melodic guitar work from the X-Men. The vocals on the third song " Knight Of The Dead " are provided by Ronnie Romero who was a member of "Rainbow" and recently also collaborated with guitarist Adrian Vandenberg on the "Vandenberg" project. Romero returns late in the fourth section of the album and the third single released from it " Sail the Darkness ". In the forth song " After The Rain " released as the second single from the album, the producer Michael Voss emerges to the microphone position and brings us together with Schenker a charming ballad that reminds us of the old "UFO". Other interesting pieces are the fast " Come On Over ", " Sangria Morte " which includes progressive aromas and " Devil's Daughter " which reminds us of "Deep Purple's" " Fireball ". It is interesting to note, that the album is sealed with a new version of the song " In Search Of The Peace Of Mind" which was included in "Scorpions" debut album " Lonesome Crow ", which Schenker wrote when he was 15 years old. Just chills.... - Accept - Too Mean to Die
On January 29, 2021, "Accept" released the album "Too Mean to Die". It is the 16th studio album from the German metal giant and the first since the excellent "The Rise Of Chaos" released in 2017. Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, who has been leading the band for over four decades, made small line-up changes before recording the album, with the addition of Martin Motnik, who replaced the original bassist Peter Baltes, who joined the band back in 1976 and announced his retirement in 2018. In addition, another guitarist was added to the lineup - Philip Shouse and the band now includes three guitarists together with Hoffman. Three singles were released from the album which proves that Hoffman and his friends have not lost it and they still know how to deliver great metal anthems. The first single " The Undertaker " was released in October 2020 and was accompanied by an excellent music video. The single " Too Mean To Die " was released a month later in November 2020. This is the title track that definitely delivers the goods with fast, edgy and energetic metal, just like the band knows how to do. On January 15th we received " Zombie Apocalypse " - the third single, which was released on the original date planned for the release of the album, but was postponed until 29/1/2021 due to delays related to the Covid-19 crisis. The album includes 8 additional pieces, including the fast and sweeping piece " No Ones Master " with the double bass drum and the melodic guitar line, " Symphony Of Pain " which includes amazing guitar work with the quote from Beethoven's ninth symphony and more. It is interesting that the album ends with an instrumental piece called " Samson And Delilah " that includes oriental motifs. The album was produced by Andy Sneap, the super producer who has been responsible for the sound of "Accept" for a decade. - The Dead Daisies – Holy Ground
On January 22, 2021, "The Dead Daisies" released their fifth studio album "Holy Ground". The Dead Daisies are an Australian-American supergroup formed in 2013, by businessman and musician David Lowy. This is a collective musical lineup, whose anchor is guitarist David Lowy, who hosts well-known and good musicians on the band albums and performances, using the "revolving door" method. In addition to David Lowy, the band now includes guitarist Doug Aldrich familiar to as the "X-Men" of "Whitesnake" and "Dio", drummer and singer Deen Castronovo known mainly from the bands "Journey" and "Bad English" and the singer and bassist Glenn Hughes . Glenn Hughes ' entry into the lineup breathed new life into it, both in terms of writing and playing. Hughes actually replaced two veteran band members: bassist Marco Mendoza who was a member of "Thin Lizzy" and "Whitesnake" and singer John Corabi who replaced Vince Neal in "Motley Crue", in 1992. Immediately after Glenn Hughes joined the band, they closed their previous episode with the compilation album "Locked and Loaded" and the new band entered the rehearsal room to write material for their next album. The process was different this time. All the members were partners in the creation process and the feeling of unity and formation is heard and felt well, when listening to the album. From first hearing, it seems that the chemistry between the four members of the band is amazing. The tracks here are mostly built on big riffs that convey all the drama, passion, and emotion of classic Hard Rock, with touches of Blues. The materials sound diverse and high quality and in this regard, there is no doubt that Glenn Hughes' addition to the lineup contributed greatly to the result. The first single " Unspoken ", was released in April 2020 and created a huge expectations among fans, with the great voice of Glenn Hughes and the amazing guitar work of Doug Aldrich. It's one of the most beautiful songs on the album, thanks in no small part to its special melody and catchy chorus. We also get Glenn Hughes ' bass solo and one of Doug's amazing solos on the album, do not miss it... The second single " Holy Ground (Shake The Memory) ", was released on December 3 and has already finally proven that it's a crazy album, that is going to "shack our memory" (as its subtitle tells) and remind us how they used to make real music in the good old days. This one came to kick us hard. Despite His advanced age Glenn Hughes is among the best rock singers walking among us and he definitely justifies the nickname "The Voice Of Rock", as he proves once more that he is still able to fly with his voice high above the band's groove. Doug Aldrich is an interesting guitarist. Not for nothing was he part of the two big lineups ("Whitesnake" and "Dio") almost simultaneously He adds to the intensity of the song with a bold guitar solo before Hughes returns to sing. " Like No Other (Bassline) " is Glenn Hughes in all his glory, right from the first second. The baseline that opens the song, the rhythm, the groove, the funk touches, and the versatile singing. His singing moans and growls and his words are deep and real. Sounds like he's just hitting the bass with a "slamming" technique that keeps the rhythm and allows Doug to give us a fiery solo while leaving room for Glenn Hughes' solo as well. " Bustle And Flow " sits on a steady 4/4 beat by Deen Castronovo with a heavy metallic riff by Doug Aldrich and shrill vocals that will occasionally remind you of "Led Zeppelin". " Saving Grace " is also a heavy mid-tempo track, with a prominent "Led Zeppelin" in its leading riff. But later on, a surprise awaits us with a melodic and sweet rock chorus before Doug Aldrich takes the listeners on another deadly guitar trip. Deen Castronovo's drumming is large, open, and epic and holds all the weight of the heavy, metallic riffs on it. Among the 11 songs on the album is one cover version, the song "30 Days in the Hole" which was originally performed by "Humble Pie". (Photo: Michael Ochs Archive) He is a singer with a tremendous vocal range and a unique voice and his name is Steve Perry. So let's give him great respect and tell you some interesting facts about him: 1. He was born Stephen Ray Perry on January 22, 1949, in California . 2. Steve was the only son of his parents of Portuguese descent. 3. He was interested in music from an early age. 4. His father Raymond Perry, was a singer and co-owner of the "KNGS" radio station, in Hanford , California. 5. At the age of 12 he heard the song "Cupid" performed by Sam Cooke on the radio and this influenced him to become a singer. 6. Before joining "Journey" he contributed his voice to commercials. 7. In 1972 he began his musical career and among others was a member of the bands "Ice" and "Alien Project", the latter even won a promising recording contract. 8. "Alien Project" disbanded after the band's bassist died in a car accident. Perry was heartbroken and considered leaving the music world. 9. He joined "Journey" only on their fourth album - "Infinity" in 1978. The band was looking to add a dominant singer to lead it, so they enlisted up Perry. 10. Until then, "Journey" included four members and the singing roles were divided between keyboardist Gregg Rolie and guitarist Neal Schon . 11. Right when Perry joined the band he was a part of writing their first hit - "Lights". 12. The song was written by Perry as a tribute to the city of Los Angeles , even before he joined the band. However, after joining the band he slightly changed the opening line of the song and replaced the word "LA" with the word "The Bay", which refers to San Francisco , as the origins of the band. (Photo: Fanart.TV) 13. Steve Perry served as Journey's lead singer for nine albums, until 1996, seven of which earned platinum status and above. 14. He released his first solo album "Street Talk" in 1984, while still with "Journey". The album was a great commercial success. 18. Immediately afterward he began work on another solo album, which was to be called "Against The Wall", but it is not clear why it was not released and what happened to the materials from it. 19. Eventually he released his second solo album "For the Love of Strange Medicine" in 1994. The song "Young Hearts Forever" from the album, was written by him as a tribute to Phil Lynott - bassist of "Thin Lizzy", after he passed away. (Photo: Fanart.TV) 20. In 1986 he released his last album with "Journey", until the reunion of the band's classic lineup on the album "Trial by Fire", which was released in 1996. This album was a huge success. 21. Unfortunately after the release of the album he suffered a serious hip injury, while on a trip to Hawaii, in a way that prevented him from performing. 22. The band waited for him for 17 months, but for fear of missing out on the tremendous momentum following the reunion, they put in an ultimatum. Either Perry performs hip surgery that will allow him to return to the stage, or they will look for a new singer. 23. Perry who was very apprehensive about the surgery had to make a painful decision and announced his retirement from the band. 24. He eventually underwent surgery in 1998, however by this point the band had already found a replacement - singer Steve Augeri, who filled his place. Later he too will be replaced by Filipino singer and band fan Arnel Pineda. 25. Since then, Perry has not been able to return to substantial musical activity. In 2013, he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor and had to undergo surgery to remove it, as well as a series of treatments. 26. In 2017 Steve was honored and inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" with “Journey”. 27. In 2018 he released his third solo album, after 24 years of silence. 28. In 2021 he released an album of Christmas songs called "The Season". 29. Over the years Perry has collaborated with many artists in various music styles, including: Sammy Hagar , Kenny Loggins, "America", Sheena Easton, "Clannad", Jason Becker , and more 30. - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raise The Roof
Singer Robert Plant and musician and country singer Alison Krauss return to collaborate after 14 years with "Raise The Roof", Released November 19, 2021. After the sweeping success of "Raising Sand" from 2007, it was simply asked to work on a sequel album, which is exactly what we get with "Raise The Roof", whose title even corresponds with the title of the previous album. As you may recall, "Raising Sand" was a huge success in sales and picked up all six Grammy Awards in which it was nominated at the time, including "Album" and "Record of the Year". Planet stepped out of his comfort zone at the time, collaborating with Krauss, a country and blue-grass artist and winner of no less than 27 Grammy Awards, but this bet was successful and is a proof that sometimes the best things come from unconventional collaborations. Work on the album began in Nashville in November 2019, but then the Covid-19 struck and delayed everything. Similar to the previous album, this time too the musical material includes interesting and inspiring cover versions for various artists such as: Lucinda Williams, Merle Haggard, Allen Toussaint, "The Everly Brothers", Anne Briggs, Geeshie Wiley, Ola Belle Reed, Brenda Burns. Song list: 01. Quattro (World Drifts In) 02. The Price Of Love 03. Go Your Way 04. Trouble With My Lover 05. Searching for My Love 06. Can't Let Go 07. It Don't Bother Me 08. - Guns N' Roses - G N' R Lies
"Guns N 'Roses'" semi-acoustic and semi-scandalous album "G N' R Lies" was released on November 29, 1988. Although this album was created out of a commercial motive and in order to take advantage of the insane success of the band's debut album "Appetite For Destruction" , it brought a number of immortal, moving but also scandalous songs. So a year after the debut album, the record company pushed the band to release another album in order to squeeze a little more cash out of this meteor they have in their hands. Guns' had just finished their debut album tour and were worn out, so to fulfill their duty they took their first EP "Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide" released a year before Apetite', added four more songs in acoustic performances, and released it on a CD. (We must point out that as those who were present at their first concert in Israel, the combination of the words, acoustic, and in order to fulfill their duty makes us physically ill !!) The first part... The EP we mentioned included four songs, "Reckless Life" a song by Slash and Axl previous band "Hollywood Rose", the song "Nice Boys" which is a cover of an Australian rock band song called "Rose Tattoo", the track "Move to the City" which is an original song by Guns' and "Mama Kin" which is a cover of an "Aerosmith" song. This is without a doubt a powerful business card that came out before Appetite', it introduces the world to the unique sound of Slash and the special and unique voice of Axl. An EP that shows the band's abilities alongside the bands from which they were influenced. The second part... That is the interesting part... Four acoustic songs which start with the immortal, the first and only single released from the album, which beyond its non-stop broadcast on MTV was played for hours on various radio stations, "Patience" . This song is so awesome that its cover version performed by Chris Cornell was only released in 2020, a few years after his death. This song gives a taste of what Guns' are becoming on the double album "Use Your Illusion I & II" . The next song is "Used to Love Her" , Izzy said it was written about an annoying song he heard on the radio about a guy crying over a girl and Slash said it was a song about Axl's dog. It is not known what is true but this slightly creepy country song shows the non-existence barriers of the band. The next song "You're Crazy" appeared in Appetite' in its electric version, here it gets its different version, or maybe the original one, completely abstracted from the distortions and bringing a much slower pace that makes us think what the other songs in Appetite' in their original version would have sounded like. If we mentioned barriers and scandals before, then the song that closes the album "One in a Million" created a massive scandal, it is doubtful if it would have survived in today's times, but also makes us think about where the line between creative freedom of expression and harm to another passes. In this song, Axl uses racist, chauvinistic and homophobic expressions. He tried to get out of it in all sorts of ways while he did not really apologize or provide an acceptable explanation but he created a lot of noise and criticism towards the band following this song. Even the album itself has an apology but it sounds pretty laconic. The album cover is designed in the style of a cover page of a "Tabloid" with the caption showing the names of the songs with a short description, imaginary articles, and photos of the band members. - The Sex Pistols - Anarchy In The UK
The day anarchy broke out !! On November 26, 1976, the first and revolutionary single from "The Sex Pistols" was released and its title speaks for itself - "Anarchy in the U.K". This is the debut single from the band's debut album "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols", which was released in October 1977. This song was one of the hallmarks of a musical and even social revolution in the 70s in England. The song entered the 56th place in the list of the 500 greatest songs of all time by "Rolling Stone's Magazine" and also entered the list of the 500 songs that shaped rock and roll, in the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame". The single came out under the EMI record label, which dumped the band a month and a half later for using blatant and rude language during a TV show. Because the song allegedly encouraged violence against the UK government, the band had a hard time finding a record company that would agree to release their debut album, which was released only a year later. - Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons - We're the Bastards
On November 13, 2020 "Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons" released their second solo album "We're the Bastards". Remember how much fun it was when Dad took you to work? So the children of guitarist Phil Campbell must have felt that way when they released the second studio album of their joint family project - "We're the Bastards", which sounds really good. For those who don't know (and if you follow our page and website you surely know), Phil Campbell was the guitarist of "Motörhead" from 1984 to 2015. After the death of Lemmy Kilmister and the disbandment of "Motörhead", Phil found himself out of work. In 2016 he entered the studio with the percussionist Chris Fehn, who is known as number 3 in "Slipknot" to concoct a solo album. Although this album was released in 2019 and included collaborations with Alice Cooper , Rob Halford , Dee Snider , and more. The more interesting thing happened precisely while working on that solo album. It started as Phil spending quality time with his three children and quickly turned into a serious project that led to the band "Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons". Phil recruited his children Todd on guitar and harmonica, Dane on drums, and Tyla on bass. They included the singer and rhythm guitarist of the Welsh band "Attack! Attack!" as their vocalist, and started working on original material. (Photo: Ultimate Classic Rock) In 2016, the band released their first EP named "Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons", and started warming up bands like "Guns N' Roses", "Hawkwind", "Saxon", and "Airbourne". The group gained momentum and what started as a side project designed to pass the time turned into something serious and permanent, when the band released its debut album "The Age Of Absurdity" in 2018. With the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis and because the band could not perform, they decided to build themselves a private studio. They spent the first quarantine period building it and at the beginning of the summer began writing and recording their second album "We're the Bastards". This time, the songwriting was more evenly shared between the band members, developing a mix of fresh contemporary influences brought by the kids, with the classic hard rock brought by the adult in charge. The theme song " We're the Bastards " opens the album powerfully and sets the tone for what comes next. " Son Of A Gun " led by Phil's daughter's ferocious bass even ups the ante and shows that this band has a lot to give. And there are some "Zeppelin" influences in " Desert Song ", southern rock with " Born To Roam ", dirty punk in the song " Destroyed " and even a nice ballad " Waves " that ends the album. A Sneak Peek... On October 30, 2020, "Bring Me The Horizon" released their highly anticipated EP, at least we were looking forward to it!! Those who know the band knows that it has a number of very important characteristics, it doesn't what others think, it is constantly developing and growing, it is capable of doing everything and nothing will stop it!! After their previous album "AMO" was released a year before and the (controversial) electronic EP everyone already "mourned about the band's death", saying that it had lost its power, roughness...its metal and became fast food for the masses. So if you have already listened to the first three singles released from this album, you already understand that this is a complete mistake, and to strengthen this claim, the single that opens the album "Dear Diary" sounds as if it was taken from the band's second album "Suicide Season" or even the first "Count Your Blessings" (released more than 10 years ago). The entire album was written during and is inspired by the Coronavirus, which here receives a powerful multiplier with a comparison to a nuclear disaster. Sykes opens his guts here and unpacks all the aggressions with texts like: "God is a shithead and we're his rejects" ("Dear Diary") "Everything is so fucked up but I can't feel a thing" ("Teardrops") "When we forget the infection, will we remember the lesson?" ("Parasite Eve") The combination of the lyrics with the deadly power of the drums, guitars, and electronics, gives us a formidable tool for ultimate venting. Music is a wonderful thing and complementary medicine for psychological treatment (just saying...) This small but explosive EP also has some very interesting collaborations such as "Yungblud" guesting on "Obey", Japanese metal trio "Babymetal" on "Kingslayer", London rock duo "Nova Twins" on "1X1" and Amy Lee on the title track, the longest we know in the world that starts with... "One Day The Only... To listen to the album at: Spotify , Apple Music Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to our website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Podcast
