- Walkways - You Found Me
The mighty and all-time favorite band Walkways is releasing today (September 27, 2021) a video clip for the song "You Found Me" from their second album "Bleed Out, Heal Out" released in 2019. Ran Yerushalmi wrote the song to his wife, who "found him" broken by a false love and managed to pick him up, support him and love him. The video clip was shot in a studio in Jerusalem, with all the photography and editing work done by the band itself. Ran said they are not used performing their songs in a sitting position but the song and the vibe of the studio felt very right to them to do so. The clip was released at the same time as the band's performance at its home club, Barbie in Tel Aviv, their second performance after the "siege" of Covid-19. Why are we telling you this? After all, the album was released two years ago... We share this because we are proud and excited to see this Israeli and all so great band get exposure in the famous Loudwire magazine Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to the website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Radio show, Sundays at 11:00
- NHC - Feed the Cruel
Friday Release # 113 How about a collaboration between Dave Navarro and Taylor Hawkins? So the supergroup "NHC" is just such a collaboration between guitarist Dave Navarro drummer Taylor Hawkins and bassist Chris Chaney, who during the 1990s played with Hawkins in Alanis Morissette's backing band and later played alongside Dave Navarro in his band "Jane's Addiction", after Eric Avery retired. The Power Trio whose name consists of the initials of the last names of each of its members (Navarro, Hawkins, Chaney) has been working for the past year on an album from which two songs have been released today. "Feed the Cruel" which also accompanied by a video and "Better Move On" which was released on audio. Hawkins, who also takes the lead vocals accompanied by Navarro backing vocals, said he was constantly looking for the opportunity to play with Navarro, whom he called "the best lead guitarist in alternative rock". - Mastodon - Pushing the Tides
Friday Release # 111 "Mastodon" announces a new album called "Hushed And Grim" and releases the first single from it Named "Pushing the Tides". The ninth album of this excellent band is scheduled to be released on October 29th. The album is produced by David Bottrill with whom the band is working for the first time. They said that when they sat down to decide who they will work on the album they all wanted someone new who had never worked with them before and so David's name was up. They were looking for someone who thinks outside the box, they record and work together for years and sometimes everything seems to be the same so when someone new comes in he gives you a different perspective and that's what David managed to do on this album. To us it sounds great and we are looking forward for the new album !!! Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to the website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Radio show, Sundays at 11:00
- Eddie Vedder - Long Way
Friday Release # 112 Eddie Vedder surprises us with a new single from an upcoming album. The song "Long Way" is the first single from the album "Earthling" whose release date has not yet been set. It's a folk rock style song that sounds to us like a combination of Bruce Springsteen and "Eagles" taken from the 1970s. Eddie sounds on this song like we've never heard him before. The person who produced the song and probably also the album is Andrew Watt, the guitarist of California Breed who produced, among others, "Ordinary Man" - the latest album by Ozzy Osborne . Eddie is apparently currently in the writing and creative burst, as just about three weeks ago 8 songs that Eddie co-wrote with Glen Hansard were released, as part of the soundtrack of Sean Penn's movie "Flag Day". The film's soundtrack also included a cover version of "Drive" by R.E.M sang by Eddie. In early August 2021, Wedder collaborated with Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello on a cover version of the song "Highway To Hell" by "AC/DC". And if that's not enough, Eddie is set to be featured on Elton John's "Lockdown Sessions" album, due out on October 22, 2021. - Asking Alexandria - Alone Again
The band have released a brand new single "Alone Again" from the upcoming album. They keep their music style with delivering a raw and emotionally powerful rock anthem. The song was a collaborative effort, as designated by crediting all five members as co-writers on the track. Guitarist Ben Bruce says that this song and the rest of the album is the result of them reconnecting and falling back in love with why they started this band in the first place. No frills or cheap tricks, just the five of them playing their instruments as hard and as loud as they can! The album that will be titled "See What's on the Inside" will be issued on Oct 1st. The album will be released through their newly signed deal with Better Noise Music. Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to the website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Radio show, Sundays at 11:00
- Halestorm - Back From The Dead
A new single from "Halestorm"'s planned fifth studio album and it's just awesome !!!!!!! This is probably going to be an album that will continue and even reinforce what we got in the excellent album “Vicious” from 2018. The single called "Back From The Dead" deals with "survival", according to Lzzy Hale, not in the physical sense of the word, but in the mental sense. Lizzie noted that this is a personal song written from the perspective of her mental health. She claims she was really "on the edge", but instead of letting herself sink in and dive into the darkness and depression she decided to write a hard rock song so everyone could scream out loud and remember they were not alone. - L.A. Guns - Knock Me Down
The first single from a new upcoming album from "L.A. Guns". The album called "Checkered Past" will be the band's 13th album and is expected to be released on November 12. This will be the band's first album since the lawsuit filed by singer Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns against drummer Steve Riley over the use of the band's name. Following a compromise reached between the parties on April 23, 2021, drummer Riley will no longer be able to use the band name and will have to change the name of the band he leads to "Riley's L.A. Guns". The album, which will feature 11 songs, will be the third since guitarist Tracii Guns returned to the band in 2016. It is interesting to note that this will be the second album involving guitarist Tracii Guns releaser in 2021, after collaborating with Michael Sweet singer of "Stryper" on their new project "Sunbomb", which combines heavy and traditional metal with touches of doom metal. Song List: 01. "Cannonball" 02. "Bad Luck Charm" 03. "Living Right Now" 04. "Get Along" 05. "If It's Over Now" 06. "Better Than You" 07. "Knock Me Down" 08. "Dog" 09. "Let You Down" 10. - Dream Theater - The Alien
Friday Release # 107 The first single from "A View from the Top of the World" - the 15th album by the prog-metal giant "Dream Theater", which will be released in October. This is the band's first album recorded in their private studios - "DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters)" and also the first in which John Petrucci probably plays an 8-string guitar !!! If you ask us we did not really feel the difference in sound, except perhaps in the heavy and dark reef at 0:47 min. which is amplified by this unknown and magical 8 string. It's a classic prog-metal piece with all the band's long familiar clichés and there's nothing wrong with that for us. What's more, we really liked Mike Mangini's drumming and you've his amazing sync with the rest of the band that just keeps getting better from album to album. Matt Heafy, the voice and the band's leader that this song came out of nowhere while they were working on a different song. It was hidden in a demo Corey Beaulieu recorded and was just left alone, during the recordings it was noticed and at that moment the band realized that this one have huge potential. - Guns N' Roses - Absurd
Friday Release #106 “Listen motherfuckers to this song that should be heard..." Even if you are not a "die hard" fan of the enormous Guns N' Roses you must be thrilled to hear a new release from the classic line up (minus the drummer), we for sure are ecstatic to hear anything new from them hoping this will lead to a new GN'R album!! Guns N’ Roses released full studio version of "Absurd", after debuting the track at a live show earlier this week. The newly released song was previously known as "Silkworms" and was written in 2001 during sessions for the album "Chinese Democracy", which arrived in 2008 after a string of notorious delays, being a kind of solo project of Axl Rose. It has now received an entirely new revamp and title, which was debuted during a show at Boston’s Fenway Park on Tuesday. This new song is an entirely new sound from the huge band, we do not think ever before we heard this Punk Rock, fast, explosive hard rock sound from the band. Axl takes his high voice to a new level with frequently screams and Slash shredding with blow out riffs. - Jerry Cantrell - Atone
Friday Release # 104 Guitarist and singer Jerry Cantrell returns with his first single in almost 20 years !!! And this is a beautiful and exciting song ... On January 24, 2020, Cantrell announced that he was working on a new solo album, his third in number and the first since his double album "Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2" released in 2002. He started recording the album on March 10, 2020 and almost a year later, on March 4, 2021, he announced through his Instagram page that the recording of the album was complete. The album was recorded with the help of guest artists such as Puciato, Gil Sharone, Duff McKagan, Abe Laboriel, Jr., Michael Rozon, Vincent Jones, Jordan Lewis, Lola Bates, and Matias Ambrogi-Torres. The new single called "Atone" is the one that opens Cantrell's third solo album called "Brighten" that will be released on October 29, 2021. The song "Atone" is accompanied by a video clip that Cantrell himself helped direct and in which you can see the members of the band playing with him, including bassist Duff McKagan. Cantrell played in an EP called "How to Be a Man" released by McKagan in 2015 and McKagan apparently found a way to return the favor when he was featured on the album. The album, which will be released at the end of October, will include the song "Goodbye" by Elton John, taken from his album "Madman Across the Water" which is one of Jerry's favorite albums. Elton John hada guest appearance playing piano on the song "Black Gives Way to Blue" by "Alice In Chains" which Cantrell wrote in memory of Layne Staley. Out of respect for Elton, Cantrell approached him and asked if it was okay to include the cover version on the album. Elton listened to the performance and gave Jerry the stamp Jerry needed. Song list: 1. “Atone” 2. “Brighten” 3. “Prism of Doubt” 4. “Black Hearts and Evil Done” 5. “Siren Song” 6. “Had To Know” 7. “Nobody Breaks You” 8. “Dismembered” 9. “Goodbye” Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to the website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Radio show, Sundays at 11:00
