The Wiz: The Raconteurs!

⚡ "The Raconteurs"! Some artists take part in numerous small projects. Others are involved in several enormous ones. We may prefer some over others, and our favorites can change over time, but his fans will at least agree that Jack White delivers 💣 in almost every band and solo venture. That includes "The Raconteurs", whose 2019 return, after 11 years without new material, was one of the finest comebacks of recent years for me.

As part of a Spotify series celebrating 50 years of New York's legendary Electric Lady Studios 🎙️, a terrific documentary and concert film was released.
The first section follows the band reworking and recording a cover of a song originally recorded at Electric Lady, "Blank Generation" by Richard Hell and "The Voidoids". The second documents an intimate performance inside the studios. The filmmaker and interviewer is the acclaimed Jim Jarmusch.
In the first section, Jarmusch interviews the band about the song and its changing versions, their history and comeback, and the recording process. Wonderful atmosphere and beautifully shot footage 🎥!
As for the second section, how often do you get to watch an intimate performance by a band that usually fills major venues and festival stages, with sound and camera work of this quality 🤔? Enjoy!
Bob McFadden's jazzy 🎺 1959 original, "The Beat Generation":
Richard Hell and "The Voidoids" performing "Blank Generation" in 1976 at the legendary CBGB, the version covered by "The Raconteurs":
A few extra details 🌶️:
1. During the performance, we are told that the lucky audience members are the people who listened to "The Raconteurs" most on Spotify 🎧.
2. Jim Jarmusch directed the band's first video, for their best-known song and debut album opener, "Steady, as She Goes".
Compared with Jarmusch's slightly gloomy version, the other official video is much lighter and funnier, with the band competing in a toy-car race 🚗.
That video was directed by the Malloy brothers, responsible for many music videos, including work with "The White Stripes". They originally made spectacular surfing films 🌊, with excellent soundtracks, naturally 😉.
