On July 20, 1999, "Metallica" took the stage for the second time in Israel, this time at the Amphi Park in "Rishon Lezion".
It is doubtful that the residents of the "Kiryat Rishon" neighborhood living right in front of the park in Rishon Lezion were prepared for what happened that historic and hysterical evening, but surely the animals in the nearby "Chai Kief" suffered greatly that night.
Six years after their previous visit to the Holy Land (30/6/1993) which you can read about here, the band members landed on the morning of July 19, 1999, with their private plane at Atarot Airport in Jerusalem.
It was the last show on a long and tedious tour that began nearly four years earlier in Hawaii, USA, and the band members came to give a tremendous and glorious final show.
arm-upAfter w show from the "HaYehudim" that the members of Metallica chose as the opening act, we got a heavy and loud bombard of the best "hits": "Master of Puppets", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Sad but True", "Wherever I May Roam", "One" and of course "Nothing Else Matters", "Enter Sandman", "Creeping Death" and "Seek & Destroy" played during the two crazy encores the band played.
The show was even broadcast on the radio and can be listened to at the following link, only, unfortunately, the first three songs were not included in the same broadcast.
