  • Slipknot - Slipknot

On the 29th of June 1999, it is officially started !! The band, which is made up of a bunch of talented people with behavioral disorders and self-destruction but are full of motivation, has officially started. Today, 23 years ago, the band Slipknot's debut album was released. Let us tell you how it all started... It all started in the mid-90s, in a remote town called Des Moines which is the capital of the state of Iowa. At night, when everyone had already gone to bed, three guys, Paul Gray, Shawn Crahan, and Joey Jordison, sat at the gas station where Joey worked and started writing history. The three members who formed the core of the band began working on materials to create a demo album with which they would be able to expose themselves to the audience through radio stations. Since they did not have a recording contract or support from any record company, they did it all by themselves. They went into the "SR Audio" studio in their city to seek their fortune. Even then they were known for the insane energy and display they would hit the stage at shows, so they tried to express that talent on the album as well and recorded it all live with analog devices without digital intervention. The cost of the demo is estimated at about $ 40,000 which they financed with their own money. After hard work, problems with mixes, and the production of the album, the first demo of the band called "Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat" was released in October 1996. The demo album included Anders Colsefini on vocals, Donnie Steele, Mick Thomson, and Josh Brainard on guitars, Paul Gray on bass, Shawn Crahan on percussion, Joey Jordison on drums, and Craig Jones on electronics. After finishing most of the recordings, guitarist Donny left the band. The band distributed the demo by themselves and tried to get air time on local radio stations but without success. No radio station played their songs seriously enough to create interest from any record company. Following the failure of the demo album, the members decided to recalculate their route and enlisted singer Corey Taylor in place of Anders, in order to give the songs a more melodic sound. They went back to the studio and tried to develop the materials they had in order to create slightly more melodic and digestible songs. In early 1998 the band recorded their second demo (unfortunately, we do not have much information about it), a demo specifically designed for record companies and included five songs composed of only new material. One of the most notable songs on the album was "Spit It Out", with the help of the band's manager Sophia John managed to get the support of producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Limp Bizkit, The Blood Brothers). Ross listened to the album and signed the band to his independent label. Recalculating their route was a successful move, the band received a lot of attention from the record companies, and with Ross' help, they finally signed a seven-album contract with the record company "Roadrunner Records". By the way, the band has released all of their albums to date with the same record label. With a record contract in their pocket, happy and joyful, the members moved to Malibu, California, and began working at "Indigo Ranch Studios", on their debut album produced by Ross Robinson. The recordings were aggressive and insane. Ross who very quickly recognized the advantage of the band in the madness they bring to the performances, wanted to recreate it in the studio. This time too, similar to the demo album, everything was done in an analog manner, in contrast to the proliferation of the use of Pro Tools, which was growing at the time. Although the part of the drums was recorded in only three days, the recordings of the other parts of the album took longer. During the Christmas break, the members returned to their hometown for a light rest but then they returned to the studio minus guitarist Josh Brainard, Josh was replaced by Jim Root and joined by DJ Sid Wilson. Ladies and gentlemen, we are honored to present to you........ Slipknot!! (Photo: Slipknot PR) This album introduced the world to the hallucinatory and frightening composition of nine members, all dressed in industrial overalls and all wearing horrible masks, fear, and anxiety are the pair of words that come to mind in the face of the album cover image. This is how Slipknot was introduced to the world !! They exploded when the Nu-Metal genre warmed its ground and was the object of admiration around the world. True, the bands around were rough, tough, and heavy but they were not "Slipknot" !! They were the angry, mentally ill, twisted, and unexpected siblings of the same genre, it was and still will be Extreme Metal !! With this album, they pushed the boundaries of metal to the limit and redefined the concept of "intensity" in the world of music. And these are the band members who were part of the same album and started Slipknot's career: (#8) Corey Taylor – vocals (#7) Mick Thomson – guitars (#6) Shawn "Clown" Crahan – percussion, backing vocals (#5) Craig "133" Jones – samples, media (#4) Jim Root – guitars (#3) Chris Fehn – percussion, backing vocals (#2) Paul Gray – bass, backing vocals (#1) Joey Jordison – drums, mixing (#0) Sid Wilson – turntables This is how it looked in the same year the debut album came out: We invite you now to look for an isolated place, turn up the volume, hold tight, and click on the link: Spotify, Apple Music Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to our website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Podcast

  • Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra

Limp Bizkit's fifth album "Gold Cobra" was released on June 28, 2011! This is the band's fifth album to arrive after 8 years of hiatus (we know there were EPs and at least two compilation albums), and the first since "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water" with all the original band members. In 2001 Wes Borland left the band and guitarist Mike Smith from the band "Snot" was recruited to record the album "Results May Vary" which was released in 2003. Then... Wes Borland came back... and Fred Durst who was a bored millionaire, decided he wants to release an album. These guys have decided to explode and put out everything they have on this album, Wes' mowing guitars, Fred's "deep" and cutting lyrics, Otto's (not the magazine's) booms, Sam's bass, and the "Lethal" DJ's scratches, they all come to give in, to flip the thatch for you and to dismantle your shape !! As we mentioned several times in our podcasts, despite being an intelligent guy and a talented musician, most of the time Fred's writing is superficial and his sentences are a collection of gibberish words, with no meaning. True, sometimes there is depth and sometimes there are even themes, but most of the time they are there to express Fred's 'appreciation' of a particular person or to describe "love" relationships between people or more correctly species. Let's put it on the table, Limp Bizkit's music is not music for contemplation, deep thoughts or emotions, and enlightenment (although there are some serious meanings from time to time). Their music is mostly to party, make you go wild, take out aggression, and even lose your temper. Break up as much as possible to the sounds of metal and rap and let no one tell you what to do. So give Fred some slack with all regarding lyrics and focus mostly on the music. Indeed, this time too, after 8 years of hiatus they are undoubtedly delivering the goods, giving us a very strong album reminiscent of their first album, and putting out all the aggressions in riffs, scratches, programming, and samples. It sounds like they are back to their youth and completely ignoring the fact that more than 20 years have passed since then. (Photo: Ryan Burchfield) As for the lyrics, do not expect substantial improvement this time either. Fred is probably sure he's a teenage boy who takes out all his frustration and anger through the words of anyone who interacts with him. He's angry about the "Autotuned", he gets off the "Douche Bags" in Beverly Hills "90.2.10", he sends the listeners to "Find Life" on "Get A Life" and urges them to buy "Shotgun" to be prepared for "Shark Attack". Finally, he makes it clear to you unequivocally that if you do not want to go out as a "Loser", then just leave everything and walk away with "Walking Away", because otherwise, he will come, yes the "Gold Cobra" will come and bite you. So “Why Try” ?? Just indulge in rage, power, vent, and aggression, and release the "Killer In You"! • The City Revival - On Display

The Israeli punk rock band "The City Revival", which we discovered in the last performance of "Useless ID", is releasing its debut album today, June 24, 2022. The band "The City Revival" was formed in 2019 when in the same year they released their first EP "No Skin Just Bones" which contained 5 songs. The band consists of Lior Babani Guitars and vocals, Hemi Keren Guitars and backing vocals, Guy Gorlan Bass and Oz Yitzhak on drums. The album, entitled "On Display", which the band worked on for a year, was created under the production and guidance of the famous punk anchor, Yishai Berger, who most of you know from the band "Useless ID" and the project "Tabarnak" (by the way, he also maintains a solo career) and you can even meet him in the Ozen record store. The band releases this album under the label "White Russian Records" (named after the drink), which is a Dutch label specializing in punk rock, hardcore, and everything around. Holds quite a number of bands from the genre and he attests that it is not big but loves what it does and supports their bands all the way! The first single from the album "War Inside" was released in April this year. The album called "On Display" showcases the band's entire arsenal of tools - from mowing punk to sweet and caressing rock, with lyrics that are not afraid to touch the really painful places and still come out optimistic from the whole story. This album has everything that should be in punk rock and even what's a bit around, cool riffs that catch you fast, melodic vocals that are fun to rave with, and drums that hit you like you hit the floor to the sounds of music. An album that is one big fun !!! Listen to the album on: Spotify , Apple Music Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to our website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Podcast

  • Testament - Demonic / Slayer -Diabolus in Musica

A Sneak Peek... And this time ... what happens when the cosmos interferes with album recordings .. Apparently there is something about 9.6 that makes things go a bit wrong, just like the inverted "mirror script" digits (6-9), which flow in opposite directions .... It so happened that on this day two giants thrash metal released, a year apart, "experimental" albums, which deviated from the DNA that characterized them. The first was "Testament" which in 1997 released "Demonic", it seventh studio album that included a darker sound that pulled towards Groove and Death Metal, with songs like "John Doe" and "Hatreds Rise". A year later, "Slayer" releases "Diabolus in Musica", the band's eighth studio album, with nu-metal influences and groove-metal elements. It was the band's first album in which the guitars were tuned down in a non-standard C♯ tuning, that in a way that influenced the sound and overall vibe of the album. Most of the material for the album was written by guitarist Jeff Hanneman who said that at the time of writing he was just looking to beat something. Is it a coincidence or a cosmic intervention related to a date? You will judge. • Rammstein - Zeit

On April 29, 2022, "Zeit" ("Time") by the band "Rammstein" was published. "Zeit", is "Rammstein's" 8th studio album, which comes 3 years after the last and excellent "Untitled" album (with the match painting), released in 2019. The album was unplanned and recorded as a result of a postponement of the band's tour, in the face of the Covid-19 lockdowns. "Rammstein's" seventh "Untitled" studio album was released in May 2019 and ended a long hiatus of the band, during which Till Lindemann and Richard Kruspe were occupied with their side projects - "Lindemann" and "Emigrate". The band planned a long tour of several years in support of the "Untitled" album, which was to include two legs in Europe and one leg in the US. However, after the first European leg of the tour was over, Covid-19 came and forced the band to postpone the next two legs of the planned tour. The band took advantage of the lockdowns and the long hiatus from live shows, to create new and spontaneous material that gradually crystallized into a full album. The name of the album "Zeit" ("Time") perhaps refers to the time that became available to the members of the band and enabled its creation. Keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz noted that the sessions were spontaneous and that the lockdowns gave the band members more time to think about new ideas with fewer distractions. "Rammstein" recorded the album in late 2020 and early 2021 at the "La Fabrique" studios at the "Saint-Rémy-de-Provence" studios in France, where their previous album was also recorded. It is interesting to noteת that the first person to listen to material from this album was the French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, commander of the International Space Station. Drummer Christoph 'Doom' Schneider was the one who played excerpts from the album to Thomas while he was at the station. He noted that it was the dream come true of a little boy talking to an astronaut in space. Another very interesting fact has to do with the album cover, taken by none other than Canadian rocker Bryan Adams. "Rammstein" members asked Adams to take a photo of their album cover showing them standing on the steps of the "Trudelturm" aerial research monument in Berlin. Bryan Adams has photographed various artists in music throughout his career, including Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, "The Who", Lenny Kravitz, and more. • The Pretty Reckless - Death By Rock And Roll

On February 12, 2021, "The Pretty Reckless" released the album "Death By Rock And Roll". This is the fourth studio album by "The Pretty Reckless" band of musician, model and actress Taylor Momsen. The name of the album "Death By Rock And Roll" stems from two tragedies that have happened to the band since it released its last album "Who You Selling For" in 2016. In May 2017, while Momsen and her friends are on tour with "Soundgarden" the worst thing happened. Chris Cornell took his own life after a concert in Detroit. "The Pretty Reckless" were the opening act for Cornell's last show before he passed away. Then, 11 months later, the band's longtime producer Kato Khandwala, died in a motorcycle accident. It was enough to send the band venting their grief in writing, with the two horrific tragedies giving the written album its name and theme song "Death By Rock And Roll". The band worked on the album with Matt Cameron and the song "Only Love Can Save Me Now" features his "Soundgarden" bandmate, none other than guitarist Kim Thayil. The album includes another collaboration in the song "And So It Went", in which the guitarist - Tom Morello is a guest. Beyond the rough hard rock and grunge pieces with seventies influences, there are also some more relaxed songs that highlight the diversity of Momsen's voice. In the song "25" her vocals reminded us of Adele yes, yes. Even his style fits one of the James Bond movie soundtracks. In the songs "Got So High" and "Standing At The Wall" we remembered the alternative group from the nineties "Mazzy Star", and in the song "Harley Darling" we were sure that it was a country outtake from the Neil Young archive. In the song "Rock And Roll Heaven" with its bluesy flavor, Momsen mentions some of the artists who probably influenced her: "The Beatles", "Pink Floyd" and Jim Morrison: "Freedom found me When I first heard the Beatles sing.. In rock and roll Heaven The great gig in the sky…” From the first listen it seems that this album is much more mature and diverse than the previous albums. What is certain is that Momsen's voice is only getting better and better. to listen to the album: Spotify. Track List: 01. Death By Rock And Roll 02. Only Love Can Save Me Now 03. • Steven Wilson - The Future Bites

On January 29, 2021, Steven Wilson released the album "The Future Bites". This is Steven Wilson's sixth solo album that was supposed to be released in June 2020 but the release was postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis. Wilson began releasing material from the album back in March 2020 and until the official release of the album we had time to listen to five different singles that were released from it. In this album Wilson deepens his experience in pop, dance and electronica with a collection of 9 songs whose style is light years away from the first and excellent solo albums "Insurgentes" and "The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)". • Liquid Tension Experiment - LTE3

On April 16, 2021 "Liquid Tension Experiment" released their third album "LTE3". This anticipated album from "Liquid Tension Experiment", was the first in almost 22 years. The wait was long, but the first three singles released from the album proved that it was definitely worth the wait. On January 22, 2020, we received the first single in the form of "The Passage Of Time", which just exploded with an energetic virtuoso show of the four old friends doing it for the first time in over two decades. The superstar lineup includes guitarist John Petrucci and keyboardist Jordan Rudess (both from Dream Theater), bassist Tony Levin ("King Crimson" and others), and drummer Mike Portnoy who is having his second collaboration with Petrucci since leaving "Dream Theater" in 2010. Beginning in the early 1970s progressive rock provided us once every few years with a worthy supergroup, shedding between the great and good of the genre. It started in 1970 with "Emerson, Lake & Palmer", "801" and "U.K." And it continued into the 80s with "Asia" and "GTR". The early 90s belonged to grunge and alternative and there seemed to be no place in the musical landscape for a supergroup with progressive roots. But towards the end of the decade, in 1998 we got the Liquid Tension Experiment which was the first to "restore the crown to its glory". It was followed by a flood of collaborations and "super-assemblies" that not only did not embarrass the roots from which they came, but in some cases even surpassed them. However, the lineup that started it all in the 90s did not survive much, as with Jordan Rudess joining Dream Theater there was no point in continuing to maintain it. Today, however, 22 years after they first cooperated, and 11 years after Portnoy left Dream, the time has come for the long-awaited reunion of the four meteors. We have already written about it quite a bit. Covid-19 struck the music industry and especially concerts, but it led to a "baby boom" of interesting singles, albums, and collaborations. In this case, too, covid seems to have helped these four very busy musicians to play together again, as the cancellations of the performances left them free time to finish working on the album, and so it turned out that we fans lost performances, but on the other hand we gained a lot of new material. This album is one of them. It includes 8 tracks that prove that even though the four members are not on stage they are still in top shape. The second single "Beating the Odds" is very different from its predecessor. It is melodic, symphonic, and happy. Petrucci who brought the lead reef from which the piece was born crowned it as prog-pop. The third single "Hypersonic" is a completely psychic piece. Is the last to be written for the album. Towards the end of the recordings the band felt like it was going to be a fast, energetic, and exploding piece, something reminiscent of "Paradigm Shift" from the first album or "Acid Rain" from the second album, and that's how this piece came about. There are two different and special tracks here. The first, is "Chris & Kevin's Amazing Odyssey" which is a kind of duet, drum bass. An exceptional experimental piece. The second, "Shades of Hope" is a guitar piano duet and completes the previous duet. Another interesting piece is "Rhapsody in Blue", which is an interesting cover version of George Gershwin's melody that originated a century ago, in the early 1920s. For Listening: Spotify. Track List: 1. "Hypersonic" (8:22) 2. "Beating The Odds" (6:09) 3. "Liquid Evolution" (3:23) 4. "The Passage Of Time" (7:32) 5. "Chris & Kevin’s Amazing Odyssey" (5:04) 6. "Rhapsody In Blue" (13:16) 7. "Shades Of Hope" (4:42) 8. "Key To The Imagination" (13:14) Follow us on Facebook or Subscribe to our website "Face/Off" - Israel's Rock Blog & Podcast

  • AC/DC - Top of the Pops Performance 1980

A Sneak Peek... On February 7, 1980, Bon Scott made his last appearance with "AC/DC" at the "Top Of The Pops" TV show on "BBC One" in the United Kingdom. (Photo: https://erenow.net/biographies) The band performed the song "A Touch Too Much" from the masterpiece album "Highway To Hell". Just twelve days after that television appearance, on February 19, 1980, the drunken Scott would lose consciousness in the vehicle of his friend, Alistair Keener, who was parked outside that friend's house, after a night of drunkenness and debauchery, his death was determined a day later, when the official cause of death was determined to be alcohol poisoning, but he apparently suffocated in his sleep. This unnecessary death comes precisely after the band released their meteoric breakthrough album that earned them international recognition. The band will be devastated following the death of its charismatic singer, but will succeed against all odds to pick itself up and return a year later with the all-time great comeback album "Back In Black". • Nice To Know You...The Fading

Band Members: Pavel Mityanin: Guitars Eyal Ben Shoshan: Bass Ilya Badrov: Vocals The Beginning... The roots of "The Fading" are planted in Tel Aviv at the beginning of the current millennium, in the thrash-death metal group "Excessum" which included, among others, the vocalist Ilya Bedrov and the drummer Shaked Forman. After several years of searching, performing, and changing members, "Excessum" entered the studio in 2007 and recorded a demo album with the Swedish musician and producer Jonas Kjellgren. The purpose of the demo was to get the band a recording contract with major labels. When they finished recording the demo, the final result sounded so good to them that they decided to release it as an EP called "Chaos in Flesh". They even managed to sell the number of units printed from that mini-album pretty quickly. Shortly after the release of the demo, the guitarist Pavel Mityanin joined the band, which set out to tour the country length and breadth. They closed shows by themselves almost everywhere that had a sound system playing. North, South, East, and West, every possible place in the small country of Israel that will bring them to as many audiences as possible. The demo received exposure not only in Israel but also abroad, in light of the fact that a Swedish band bearing the same name - contacted the Israeli "Excessum" and demanded that they change it. The band members started receiving hateful anti-Semitic messages from the Swedish band. They weren't really moved by the threats and didn't really care what the band in Sweden claimed or thought, but in the end, they decided to change the name, mainly because they liked the new name: "The Fading" (by the way, the poetic justice was done when the same Swedish band disbanded after a few months). The Big Breakthrough... At the beginning of 2008, "The Fading" participated in the "Wacken Metal Battle" competition in Israel and won first place. The band members started to feel more confident in themselves and their music, among other things following the victory in that competition and following the joining of Pavel. They boarded the plane with high hopes on the way to the big "Wacken Metal Battle" competition at the legendary "Wacken Open Air" festival in Germany. The dream came true and became a reality when on August 1, 2008, the band won first place in the competition and secured a recording contract for an album with the "Wacken Records" label. Pavel said that when they were behind the scenes of the big stage at that festival, they found themselves watching the performance of "Killswitch Engage" together with Jordan Mancino from the band "As I Lay Dying". At that moment, at the age of 23, they felt on top of the world and that they were going to be at least the next "Metallica". In 2009, the band entered "Abyss Studios" in Sweden together with producer Pelle Saether and on July 31, 2009, they released their debut album: "In Sin We'll Find Salvation". The album was released during the "Wacken Open Air" festival that celebrated its 20th anniversary that year. The band came to the festival as one of the official bands of the line-up and performed on the "Wet Stage". Allow us to add a note here: absolutely insannnnnnnnnnnnne!! At the same festival, they also held a special performance for members of the media hosted by "Wacken", in order to promote their debut album. From there, the metallic "plane" of "The Fading" took off with tremendous power. In 2010 the label organized a tour for the band. The young guys from Israel went on tour with the bands "Warbringer" and "Evile". The tour included no less than 33 performances. It lasted two weeks in England and another month in Europe and included 13 countries!! It is the dream of every musician (including ours still!) to wake up day after day in a different country, with a different language and a different culture. To get on stage every day in different parts of the world and perform in front of an audience that paid money to see you perform with your music while moving and roaring your songs. The band members said that this is one of the main catalysts that move them forward, pushing them to create music and be a band! They didn't dream that winning the Metal Battle in Israel would bring them to such a crazy tour in Europe, but already at their first show in "Wacken" in 2008, the band members admitted that they felt they had something good in their hands. They received strong positive feedback from the audience, but also from the production staff of "Wacken". The plane of "The Fading" continued with wide open throttles and the year 2011 became a record year of the band, which appeared and gained exposure in many places in the world. The band members said that they felt like "rock stars". They performed with the band "In Flames" in Kyiv, Ukraine. A short time later they appeared in Israel as an opening act for "Children of Bodom" and a few months later they appeared with "Arch Enemy" in St. Petersburg and in Moscow. Just writing the names of the bands here made us sweat, so try to imagine what it's like to share the same stage with these big names and stand in front of an audience of this size??? Huge chills all over the body!!! In 2012, after their tremendous achievements in the previous two years, the band returned to Israel and started working on new material for the next album. The beginning was difficult, but very quickly things began to deteriorate at a rapid pace. At first, the writing did not flow, then came the conflicts and later the disagreement between the members regarding the musical direction and future of the band. As a result, some members of the band decided to leave, leaving Pavel, Ilya, and Shaked Furman (the drummer) to decide what they do next. It was clear to the remaining trio that they were not going to give up this great thing called "Metal", which they love so much. With renewed strength, they added guitarist Alex Zebulon and bassist Eyal Ben Shoshan to the band and went to record the next album. Eyal Ben Shoshan said that his joining the band was the closing of a circle for him because as a teenager he adored "The Fading". He especially remembers how at the "Wacken" festival, three years before (when his band at the time, "Ferium", won the Metal Battle), he managed to sneak into an empty area that was really close to the stage during the "In Flames" concert. During the performance of the song "My Sweet Shadow," he noticed Pavel standing next to him, and in one defining moment of intense excitement that enveloped them, he formed a connection that years later would introduce Eyal to the band. By the way, a small amusing anecdote: despite the exciting story, Eyal's start in the band almost went awry, when in his first rehearsal with the band he dropped Pavel's beloved guitar on the floor and almost smashed it. Let's go back to the album. Some of the materials were already written before the band started recording and some were written together with Eyal and Alex. After the recordings were finished, the band sent the album to Jens Borgen (who worked with "Amon Amarth", "Opeth", "Kreator") for mixing and mastering. At the same time, they started receiving many offers and promises from various managers and labels in the industry to promote the album, but time passed and nothing happened. For a year and a half they experienced frustration and disappointment and in the end decided to release the album on their own, without the push or promotion of any label. Despite the fact that so much time had passed and that the creative process was very difficult for them, they did not want to shelve it, but they wanted to close this chapter and move forward. After severe birth defects, the band's second album, "Till Life Do Us Part", was released on December 29, 2015. Over the next two years, the band rediscovered its power on stage. It held several of the biggest shows in its career, sharing the stage with bands like "Bring Me The Horizon" and "Five Finger Death Punch". They felt on top of the world again (by the way, they even ate cheese and drank wine in the jacuzzi with Oliver and his gang). And yes, there were also exciting moments of a different and no less important kind. Eyal said that he will never forget their performance with "Bring Me The Horizon" in Russia when the band's manager made him a surprise and brought his father (who lives in China) to watch the performance. Out of the sea of people in the audience Eyal recognized his father and during the whole show, he felt that he was performing only for him. The whole huge crowd suddenly disappeared and only he and his father remained. In the same year, they also released a music video for the song "A Moment Of Insight" with the Dutch singer Anneke van Giersbergen ("The Gathering"), a huge budget and production music video that was filmed in Ukraine with the production company that also produced "Jinjer" and other big bands!! The band continued to write, create and record new material. The dynamics and chemistry between the three are so strong that they manage to get the most out of themselves. There is a perfect synchronization between them, with each giving his part. Each of them has their own opinion but still, together they manage to find the balance. Eyal, the engine of creation, is an abundant iron mine that never stops creating new things. Pavel is a cruel blacksmith who knows how to powerfully sharpen the iron that hires Eyal and Ilya wraps it all up in rough and aggressive lyrics. And again, all that time that they were working on new materials they received offers and promises of a bright future. The big disappointment came in 2017 when during an impromptu meeting that took place between Pavel and Eyal with the manager of a public relations company from London who happened to be in Israel, they discovered that the promises and offers they received were without any basis. Pavel, Eyal, and Ilya were heartbroken and decided to end the pain and put the band on a hiatus. Ilya said that this was the "cursed" year when "The Fading" was not in a good place and he within the band didn't feel complete either. Back From The Dead... After three years of silence, when they still maintained a friendly relationship, the three felt that it was difficult for them without the stages, without the music, and without the energy. They decided to go back to playing together. Without any plans, commitment, or goal whatsoever. The three returned to playing together just for fun, but then what happens to many bands in the world happened to them. If you've read our reviews, you probably know that as soon as the "spark" returns, the fire ignites quickly and powerfully, and that's what happened to the members of "The Fading". Very quickly they realized that just playing for fun is not an option. Either they do it all the way or they don't do it at all, especially if the three are metalheads of a rare breed who have survived the hardships the band went through until now. They felt that this triangle was the strong and cohesive nucleus that would be able to move "The Fading" forward once more. But then the coronavirus came and slammed the door in their faces, just like it did to the entire music industry. During the entire Corona period, they were "cooking slowly", when every now and then they sharpened the materials they wrote, built plans, and recorded materials. But they still didn't feel that it was something real since the whole industry was at that time on hold and they didn't know what the future held. Eyal described the period as "limbo" where they did not know how it would end and if it was worth investing in or not. But as we always come back and write here, the music is stronger than anything and the band members found creative solutions and managed to record new material even though Eyal has been living in the USA for the last few years. The guitars and vocals were recorded at the home of each of the band members and the drums were recorded in a studio in Israel by Shaked Forman (yes yes, the same Shaked who started the journey with Ilya in "Excessum"). On August 24, the band released the first single from the upcoming album: "The Great Reset". According to the way, it sounds (and also looks) their energies and powers are higher than ever and we can't wait for more new songs!!! After 6 years of not playing together, the band members felt that they had to release their energies on stage and decided to hold a festive performance on 4.2.23 at the "Gagarin" club. This powerful celebration is joined by "DPS", "Her Last Sight" and "Ferium", which is also making a comeback. This is undoubted "Back from the Dead" as the name chosen for the show !! On a personal note... The band members work for the music. This is their passion and they work to satisfy that passion. Despite their tremendous success in Israeli terms (but also relatively international), they never saw the financial aspect as a motive. From the beginning and all along, they had no intention of making money, but only doing what they love so much - music. The shows they held abroad and in Israel didn't bring them any money, but luckily they didn't cause them any losses either. They feel it's mainly because they give everything all the way, in their creations, music, and performances!! So do yourself a favor and do not miss this show at the Gagarin on 4.2.23.
